Common tile problems
Cracks, lippage and leaks usually trace back to prep, layout or the wrong setting materials.
Cracked tile or grout
Check support, cracks and movement, then pick the setting system and movement joints to match. If the structure moves, a membrane won’t stop it.
Uneven edges and lippage
Check flatness before setting. Fix the floor first, then plan tile size, mortar bed and coverage.
Leaks behind shower walls
Install a waterproofing system behind the tile and seal every corner, seam and pipe opening. Grout lets water through.
Hollow-sounding tiles
Match mortar and trowel to the tile, check coverage and back-butter large pieces. A hollow sound alone won’t tell you the cause.
Crooked layouts at doorways
Measure the whole room, center the layout on what you see first and plan cuts and transitions before setting.

FAQ
Short answers on price, tile types, small jobs and prep. Don’t see your question? Call us.
(916) 527-9532Price depends on removal, the condition of the floor or wall, access, waterproofing, tile size, pattern and trim. We quote after seeing the room, so we don’t post a per-foot price.
Ceramic, porcelain, large-format porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, glass, Saltillo and terracotta. Whether a tile suits your room depends on the specific product, how you use the room and what the tile sits on.
Tell us if you’ve already picked or bought tile. We’ll check that it suits the room and that you have enough, trim included. The written scope says who orders and who takes delivery.
Send us the details: a backsplash, a small bathroom or a repair. We decide case by case, based on access, prep, matching the existing tile and our schedule.
Clear out personal items and tell us about access, appliances, fixtures and anything that needs covering. Before we start, we agree on furniture, how long the room is out of use, water and power, dust and cleanup.
We put workmanship terms in the written agreement for your project: what’s covered, for how long and the exclusions. Ask for them with your estimate.
